SFB 1530 Double Feature: Talk by Ulrike Köhl + Lymphoma Tech Meeting

Ulrike Köhl is professor of immunoncology and the director of both the Institute for Clinical Immunology at the University of Leipzig and the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology Leipzig. With a clinical focus on the development and manufacturing of advanced cell-based therapies and the improvement of cell processing strategies, she has specific interest in exploring primary human NK cells including chimeric antigen receptors (CAR) expressing NK cells.

Who: Prof. Ulrike Köhl, PhD MD, University of Leipzig / Fraunhofer Institute for Cellular Therapeutics and Immunology in Leipzig; host: Prof. Renata Stripecke

When: Tuesday, 20 August 2024 at 1:00 pm

Lymphoma Tech Meeting - CLL Coculture Systems

The seminar is preceded by a Lymphoma Tech Meeting, a workshop series exclusively tailored to early career scientists within the SFB 1530. Viktoria Kohlhas, postdoc in the Hallek lab, will give a seminar on CLL Coculture Systems.

Course description:

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells are highly dependent on signals from their tumor microenvironment (TME). Whereas CLL cells undergo apoptosis ex vivo rapidly, different elements from the TME can support their viability. For studying the bidirectional dialog and molecular mechanisms of interactions between CLL cells and TME cell types, in vitro coculture systems are indispensable. In this meeting, I will present how we can prolong the survival of CLL cells using various macrophage and stromal systems. Moreover, we will explore the suitability of different coculture systems for multiple types of experiments, such as inhibitor treatments, screening approaches, viability and phagocytosis assays.
