Mental Health First Aiders

The growing awareness and positive change around mental health has enabled a more openly and accessible discussion about this subject. To foster an inclusive work environment in which co-workers are able to seek advice, we promote contacting the Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA) within the CRC 1530. Conversely, the MHFA are trained to proactively approach co-workers and offer support – the sooner those affected receive professional help, the higher the chances of recovery.

What is MHFA?

MFHA is the German version of the Australian Mental Health First Aid Program which is spread over 29 countries. The German network is operated by the “Zentralinstitut für Seelische Gesundheit“ with support of the “Dietmar Hopp Foundation“ and in partnership with the “Beisheim Foundation”.

The positive effect of mental health first aid courses has been studied rigorously. Not only do the courses contribute to gaining more knowledge about mental health, but it also reduces stigmatisation towards dealing with mental health issues.
